Explore the Augmented Reality Garden on Market Street

Earlier this month, Onedome unveiled their art exhibit in which we’re immersed in a world of augmented reality plants and art pieces. Created with Microsoft’s Hololens AR headsets and software from HP, The Unreal Garden features 10 works from 9 different artists. Audiences are able to roam the exhibit freely and experience the magic with the help of their AR headsets.

“Explore the winding paths lined with radiant wildflowers. Follow the meandering river stocked with luminous fish. And discover a new dimension of wonder and creativity.”

Within each art piece, there are interactive activities to explore. The details, from the air temperature, to even the physical space itself, generate an ethereal mixed reality where the art in the exhibit comes to life all around you.

Outside the context of play & fun, the exhibit also gives us a glimpse of how augmented reality technology can allow for more natural interactions with information where our heads are up; in contrast to our current mobile experiences, where we have to turn our heads down to interact with the data on our phones.

The Unreal Garden is the first stage of Onedome’s overall plans. Starting in December with their next San Francisco opening, called LMNL.
